"Danse l’Europe!" - Bodies moving in unison throughout europe

"Danse l’Europe!" is a participatory choreographic work created by Angelin Preljocaj, with music by Jeanne Added, created to embody the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Innovative, interactive, inclusive and open to everyone, this artistic experience can be discovered across Europe throughout the first half of 2022.

This choregraphy will be presented for the first time on the 9th of February at the Grand Palais éphémère by the students of the Conservatoire national de musique et de danse de Paris (CNSMDP), the students of the Centre national de la Danse (CND), and the hip-hop dance section of Lycée Turgot, in the presence of Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, Minister of Culture, and Clément Beaune, Minister of State for European Affairs, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

Danse l’Europe!, the app

The 9-minute choreography is available via an application specifically created for the project. Everyone, whether amateurs or professionals, can share a moment of dance, alone or as a group, in various cultural spaces as well as at home, at work, in schools and in public spaces.

Guided by the voice of Angelin Preljocaj in French and by other artists in the other European languages, participants get ready, warm up then perform this fun and joyful choreography in their own way.

The application also includes a film by director Tommy Pascal, which portrays the dance routine performed by 27 European dancers and dance-lovers of all ages.

Participants can also send a video of their dance to Numeridanse.tv, the digital platform of the Maison de la Danse and coordinator of this shared experience, or upload it to social media using the hashtag #DanceEurope.

Events for all audiences geared towards discovering dance and dancing together will be held in several locations throughout Europe during the six months of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Danse l’Europe! in practice:

Participants can download the Danse l’Europe! application, then select one of the 24 European languages in which they want guidance to try out the choreography.
Two modes are available: “solo” mode, to dance alone, or “group” mode, to connect with other users, whether they are in the same room or across the European Union.

Guided by the voice of Angelin Preljocaj in French, participants get ready, warm up then perform the dance in their own way.

Following the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, a compilation will be made of the videos shared on Numeridanse.tv and on social media using the hashtag #DanceEurope. It will be published on the French Presidency website.
