Faraz Arif Ansari’s short film Sheer Qorma, wins Best Film at India International Film Festival Boston

Faraz Arif Ansari’s short film ‘Sheer Qorma’ is winning hearts across the globe for its soul-touching storyline and an incredible cast. In August this year, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) honoured ‘Sheer Qorma’, with an Equality in Cinema award- which was a first of its kind achievement. Winning yet another prestigious award at a global platform- ‘Sheer Qorma’ wins Best Film at India International Film Festival Boston and Shabana Azmi has also bagged the award for Best Leading Actor.

 Sharing his joy of winning the award, Faraz says, “It makes me so happy to know that along with Sheer Qorma winning Best Film at India International Film Festival Boston, Shabana Azmi ji has also bagged the award for Best Leading Actor at the festival for Sheer Qorma! I was so ecstatic when I broke the news to Shabana ji about her win and she was gracious as ever and thanked me for giving her Sheer Qorma. We are also nominated for Best Director, Best Leading Actor (Divya Dutta) & Best Supporting Actor (Swara Bhasker) at IIFFB. Fingers crossed and here’s hoping we win!” 

The film is striking a chord with the worldwide audience for its sensitive and beautiful storyline of love, acceptance and a journey of understanding. Shabana Azmi, Divya Dutta and Swara Bhasker lived their characters that makes the audience connect with them easily. The film which was also premiered at the Frameline Fest in San Francisco, USA, in June and has been screened at numerous other festivals across the world since has won 13 international awards.
